Girl Cousins Luncheon

This picture is of me with 5 of my 6 girl cousins.  In my dad's family there were 8 children of which all but one (Aunt Tony (Leona)), married and had children.  All the siblings had boys but only one girl was allotted to each family; therefore, there are 7 girls cousins.   Starting from top left then clockwise - Tony, daughter of Boyd; Garna, daughter of Horace; Susan, daughter of Garn (Ray); Ann, daughter of Eldon; Tracy, daughter of Bim (Brigham); Kathy, daughter of Von.  Missing from picture is Marianne, daughter of Arva.  Thank you Garna for putting this together for us!   We all felt the importance of it.

Also at the luncheon was Arva, top left, Marion (wife of Eldon), top right and bottom right Betty Holbrook Johns, my mother.

My Aunt Arva is holding up a banner representing my grandparents (her parents) Horace Cook Holbrook and Leona Grace Garn (initials in the center) family.  The yellow stars symbolize the 8 children; the gold stars are their children; the orange the next generation, the red stars the next.  So, Bim would be the big yellow star, I would be gold; my three daughters would be orange and my 8 grandchildren represented by the red stars.  It was my understanding there are children of a next generation not yet on the banner.  Also, note Arva has a Medical symbol representing my grandfather was a doctor (orthopedic surgeon), the kiwi represents my grandparents' mission in New Zealand (my father was born there in 1917) and below; shafts of wheat representing they grew wheat on their farm.  There are also some dates on there which I can't quite see, but can figure out if you are really interested.

I had to include this perfect picture of my Uncle Eldon and Aunt Arva, the last two remaining remaining children of my father's family.  I want to say Arva just turned 85.. not sure, but don't they both look GREAT?

I did a little cropping and came up with this nice pic of my mom.
